COVID delays clogging up NSW legal system

The state’s Attorney General hopes to have court delays caused by Covid cleared within six to 12 months.

New figures from the Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research show in the last three years, the time to finalise a defended hearing has risen from 198 days to 279.

Mark Speakman says the pandemic has been a huge challenge for the court system.

 NSW Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research executive director Jackie Fitzgerald joined Luke Grant to talk about the figures.
