Hawkesbury City Councillor and former candidate for Macquarie Sarah Richards is calling for the NSW Government to raise Warragamba Dam wall before time runs out.

With the NSW State election scheduled for March 2023, Ms Richards is apprehensive about the Liberal Party’s chances and believes if Labor wins the wall will never be raised.

“We are running out of time before that March election,” she said

“Our staff are exhausted, people are tired … it’s now time to stand up and make a decision.

“After four floods in 18 months … you need to do something to reduce the risk.”

Ms Richards also cited a 2017 report that indicated raising the wall will have the largest flood mitigation impact to the community.

Before Ms Richards’ interview on Drive, Luke Grant gave his thoughts on the NSW Government’s inaction on flood mitigation.
