A critical incident investigation is underway, after a man was shot dead inside a police station in Sydney’s west.

The man, who hasn’t been identified, threatened police officers with a knife at Auburn Police Station shortly after midnight.

The man is believed to have been involved in an incident at Auburn Railway Station just five minutes earlier.

Nine News reporter Gabby Boyle told Ben, the man was shot in the waiting area of the station.
