The Federal Health Minister Mark Butler has scrapped 70 specialist telehealth consultations that were made available to patients during the pandemic.

As current covid numbers increase, many doctors are are concerned more vulnerable patients will be stuck without access to care.

Campbelltown GP Dr Ken McCroary joined Luke Grant on Drive to voice his concerns.

“I thought it was a no-brainer, we look after the most vulnerable first but we’re sticking the knife into them … I just can’t get my head around it,” he said.

“The Minister won’t allow us to bulk bill prolonged consultations over the phone now either … which just is mind-boggling.”

The Drive team will be pursuing Mark Butler for comment on tomorrow’s show.
