A winter wave of COVID and flu infections is threatening to cause a major shortage of workers over the next few months.

Businesses are now bracing for disruptions in transport, freight services, and supermarkets

Industry leaders are warning business owners they might have no choice but to shut their doors.

In the past 24 hours, Australia has had more than 32,000 infections.

CEO of the Australian Chamber of Commerce Andrew McKellar told Chris Smith “It’s only going to get worse”.

“Clearly with re-infections rates on the rise… the most important thing is reminding people about the need to get vaccinated,” he said.

“Don’t ignore the risk with flu.”
