A new study has revealed just how safe second-hand cars actually are.

One of the researchers behind the study Professor Stuart Newstead has told Clinton Maynard the study looked at the outcomes of real crashes.

“This study is very much about putting them on a spectrum of performance … it’s about relativity, it’s not just setting a bar,” he said.
