‘Come back to the table’ – Former Liberal MP on state policies on autism
Former Liberal MP and mother of a child with autism, Hollie Hughes says state governments need to come back to the table in regards to support for people and families impacted by autism.
“I started this journey before the NDIS. And so I know what supports used to be there. And they’re what the state government’s pulled out of action as soon as the NDIS came into play,” she told Clinton Maynard
She also says schools encouraged diagnoses in order to secure more funding from the NDIS but wouldn’t provide the students in need with additional support.
