Sydney Councillor Kerryn Phelps has called out Lord Mayor Clover Moore for hypocrisy.

The Mayor said more money needs to be invested in grassroots sporting clubs before the NSW Government upgrades Sydney’s sporting stadiums.

But Professor Phelps tells Chris Smith the Mayor’s comments are hypocritical as local sporting clubs have been calling for upgrades to their facilities for decades.

“[When I heard Clover’s comments] I thought, ‘are you kidding me?’

“Glebe District Hockey Club have been calling for an upgrade for 30 years. They’re now likely to lose their junior players who are the lifeblood of the sport.”
