The Voice referendum is finally over, and it’s the result that was predicted by nearly everyone. The campaign was taxing on the population, but also tough on ratepayers.

Orange City Council, despite its electorate voting “No”, gave a shocking amount of money to the “Yes”. This has prompted Chris O’Keefe to ask if they’ll now refund their ratepayers who put money towards a campaign the majority didn’t vote for.

“7,000 people voted “Yes” in Orange itself for the Voice to Parliament, guess how many voted “No”? 16,000 people”, Chris told Drive listeners.

As for ‘Yes’ voting areas like City of Sydney, Chris says their financial support “did not move the dial at all”.
