‘Children shouldn’t be seeing these things!’ – Zelić on drag queen Xmas event statement
Lucy Zelić says children shouldn’t be exposed to a man dressed as Mrs Claus at a Christmas event in Sydney.
“We will not take the blame that has been directed to this man!”
City of Sydney spokesperson:
Free events, markets, choirs, trees and lights will create a festive atmosphere across the city over the next month.
Last night saw Santa take a sleigh ride through the city before the lighting of the Christmas tree in Martin Place.
We strive to make our events inclusive and program performers that reflect our diverse communities.
On Thursday a range of performances at Customs House and Martin Place kept crowds entertained, including a children’s dance studio, marching band, DJs and roving Christmas characters.
We are proud of and celebrate diversity in our community. Some of the commentary around this performance has been concerning. There is no place for hatred or bigotry in the City of Sydney
