Men at Work’s Colin Hay is releasing a new collection of covers, paying tribute to the artists of his childhood and youth.

I Just Don’t Know What To Do With Myself features songs originally by Dusty Springfield and The Kinks among others, selections which Hay told Deborah Knight have personal significance.

“My mother and father had a music shop in Scotland, and Dusty Springfield always had a hit on the charts.

“Her voice was extraordinary … she could do it all.”

The Kinks’ ‘Waterloo Sunset’ also has a nostalgic connection.

“I remember leaving the United Kingdom in June ’67, and I was walking across the gangplank to get on the ship, and ‘Waterloo Sunset’ was playing through the sound system.

“It’s imprinted in my memory.”
