A child is fighting for life after being hit by a car near a primary school on Sydney’s North Shore.

The eight-year-old boy was walking with a 40-year-old man on Bydown Street, near Yeo Street in Neutral Bay when they were struck.

Members of the public gave them first aid before paramedics arrived.

The child is in a critical condition, while the man has also been taken to hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Another child was also hit by the car and taken to hospital as a precaution.

The driver is believed to have suffered a medical episode.
