Father Chris Riley, the Sydney priest who launched Youth Off the Streets, has died.

Father Riley launched the charity in the 90s, delivering meals to disadvantaged youth experiencing homelessness.

He was appointed a member of the Order of Australia in 2006, and in 2012 was the New South Wales Australian of the Year.

Father Riley died in his sleep at the age of 71.
