Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA) will donate $2 million to Australian Red Cross to help farmers across Australia combat drought.

Worsening conditions have prompted CBA to join support for drought-stricken farming families across regional Australia.

Regional and Agribusiness Executive General Manager Grant Cairns tells Ross Greenwood “help is absolutely critical”.

“We’ve heard from a lot of our customers and farmers that help is absolutely critical right now in terms of getting feed and support.

“We’re very pleased to announce we’re donating $2 million; $1.75 million to the Australian Red Cross to kick-start a national fundraising appeal and also delighted that we’ll also be donating $250,000 to support Buy A Bale.”

Mr Cairns also says the bank will look into lending facilities, payment structures and emergency funding to assist farmers.

“Whatever really the customer needs.”
