CareFlight helicopter lands on M1 following major crash, driver trapped in wreckage
A truck driver has been airlifted to hospital after a major crash on the M1 north of Sydney.
The incident occurred just north of the Hawkesbury River Bridge at Bar Point just before 10am.
Witnesses say one truck rear-ended another, leaving the driver trapped in the wreckage.
Emergency services worked to free the driver, in his mid-40s, who was then airlifted to hospital.
The second driver wasn’t injured.

Emergency services, traffic crews and a heavy tow truck remain on site.
The crash closed all northbound lanes as the helicopter landed, with traffic queued 11km.
All lanes have now been reopened.
Listeners have sent footage of motorists out of their cars during the standstill.
