‘Career paedophile’ sent love letter to victim from behind bars

A serial paedophile who raped two brothers and sent a love letter to his nine-year-old victim from behind bars is awaiting sentencing.

Christopher James McCoy abused the two boys on the Queensland Sunshine Coast between 2012 and 2013 when they were just seven to nine-years-old.

The 26-year-old paedophile was jailed for nine months in 2014 after pleading guilty to raping the younger victim.

While behind bars for his horrific crimes, McCoy sent his nine-year-old victim a letter professing his love for the young boy.

In 2015, the older brother came forward and told his mum McCoy had similarly abused him.

On Friday, McCoy was found guilty of 19 charges including rape, indecent treatment of a child and maintaining a relationship with a child.

But the nightmare doesn’t end there.

McCoy has a history of sexual abuse against children. He was jailed for six months in 2015 after pleading guilty to abusing two other boys between 2009 and 2011.

Ray Hadley says the Queensland judiciary now faces a test when the serial sexual predator faces sentencing on June 11.

“We are talking about a career paedophile here,” Ray says.

“This creature can’t be rehabilitated. He simply can’t be.

“If he’s released from prison sometime in the future he will kill one of his victims as clear as night follows day.”
