Possessing and growing cannabis for personal use has been legalised in the Australian Capital Territory.

The ACT Legislative Assembly passed a private members bill allowing people over 18 to possess 50 grams of cannabis and grow two plants.

NSW Greens MP David Shoebridge tells Karl Stefanovic cannabis should be completely legalised.

“This war on drugs has comprehensively failed and, in relation to cannabis, it’s collapsing around the rest of the world.

“The Premier has made it clear she’s not at all interested in any laws that are going to be about decriminalising or legalising cannabis.

“I think that’s a big missed opportunity.”
