Candice Warner has admitted to leaping to her cricketer husband’s defence amid verbal abuse from a fellow parent.

David Warner was dismissed on the first ball of the innings in a T20 warm-up match against New Zealand.

Candice told Bill Woods she was “aggressively” told he should retire due to recent poor form on her school pick-up run today.

“I actually went off.

“Did you watch the game? Guptill took a screamer to get him out.

“He’s doing everything right in his preparation … I feel he’s just out of luck at the moment.”
