Calls for crackdown on facial recognition technology

UTS’ Human Technology Institute Projects Manager of Responsible Technology Lauren Perry told Joe Hildebrand the model laws target different situations where the technology is used.

“Consent would be a big part of working out how risky a piece of facial recognition can be.”

Ms Perry says most Australians are surprised to hear there are no current laws specifically regulating facial recognition technology.
