Businesses on the verge of closing due to Parramatta Light Rail construction

Article image for Businesses on the verge of closing due to Parramatta Light Rail construction

The Parramatta Light Rail construction is currently affecting two local businesses.

The Light Rail connects Westmead to Carlingford and runs right through the Parramatta CBD.

The $8 billion transformation has seen new high-rise buildings being built and is quickly becoming Sydney’s second CBD.

However, businesses are treading on water due to it becoming a “ghost town” as construction continues.

Owner of ‘Mama and Papas Pizzeria’ on Church Street John Chammas and owner of ‘Sambousek Lebanese’ Peter Zaidan told Ben Fordham they’re on the brink.

“A lot of people tell us they don’t have access to our restaurant … It’s just gut-wrenching,” Peter told Ben.
