Businesses will now be able to access a $1 billion support package promised by the NSW government in response to the devastating Omicron wave.

Businesses with a turnover of less than $50 million and a 40 per cent decline in turnover in January can access a payment of 20 per cent of weekly payroll, up to $5,000 a week.

The payment will not be retrospective to include the month of January.

NSW Treasurer Matt Kean told Ben Fordham businesses will receive payments within 5-10 working days.

“I know not everyone will be happy but we’ve stood it up as quickly as possible and we’ll be getting cash into those bank accounts as soon as we can.”
