Bus services across the city have been disrupted as drivers walk off the job.

Bus drivers working for three private operators have gone on strike, impacting most areas.

Services on the eastern suburbs and some parts of the west, south-west and lower north shore remain unaffected.

Rail Tram and Bus Union Divisional Secretary David Babineau told Chris Smith the action was unavoidable.

“Some drivers aren’t able to have a toilet break.

“We’re not looking for pie in the sky … we’re talking about really basic conditions.”
