‘Broaden the view of sport’: Minerva Network mentor talks women’s sport

Deborah Knight

Minerva Network QLD Chapter Lead, Ann Sherry, has discussed women’s sports and the importance of local support for their success.

The Minerva Network is an organisation of nearly 300 businesswomen helping 600 elite female athletes convert their success into sponsorship deals and long-term careers.

Sherry highlighted the need to maintain the momentum generated by successful female teams like the Matildas and encouraged broader support for women’s sports.

She emphasised that fans can contribute by attending and promoting women’s sporting events, as it promotes a sustainable shift in the sports landscape.

“Instead of little girls wearing men’s numbers, we’ve got boys and girls wearing the numbers of great sports people, men and women”.
