NSW Health Minister Brad Hazzard has announced people who wish to get married will be allowed to do so from Friday.

The ban on gatherings has effectively banned weddings, but from 12:01am Friday September 3 people can get married with a group of up to five attendees.

Mr Hazzard suggested the five guests will be in addition to the marrying couple, an officiant and possibly a photographer, however further details with be confirmed next week.

“I want people to know that if you do wish to get married, you certainly can as of Friday of this week.”

Guests will have to “comply with the balance of the rules”, including not leaving their LGA to attend a wedding.

Vaccination is not going to be a legal requirement for weddings within the health orders, but is recommended.

NSW recorded 1035 new cases of COVID-19 until 8pm last night, but broke the state’s vaccination record.

61,000 doses were administered in state hubs, with 156,000 vaccines delivered overall.
