World number 1 Ash Barty has announced she will be retiring from tennis.

She shared the shock news on her social media.

“I just had that gut feeling after Wimbledon,” she said.

“There was just a little part of me that wasn’t satisfied.”

Tennis correspondent Craig Gabriel told Deborah Knight the news has come as a shock.

“She’s pretty much achieved what she wanted to achieve.”
