Brad Fittler has been announced as the new coach of the New South Wales State of Origin team.

The former Roosters coach and Blues assistant has been handed a two year contract to lead the side in 2018 and 2019.

Fittler has told 2GB’s Chris Smith he’s “confident” NSW will be victorious next year.

“We’re starting today. Right now. I’ll do whatever I can to get a win.”

Fittler replaces Laurie Daley who was sacked after four years at the helm.

The Blues haven’t won a State of Origin series since 2014.
