University of Sydney immunisation expert Professor Robert Booy has sifted fact from fiction in relation to the Pfizer booster vaccine.

Professor Booy told Jim Wilson the third shot will “almost certainly” lower the risk of contracting Omicron COVID, based on laboratory testing.

The new variant is very highly transmissible and dominating Delta overseas, he said.

“We don’t know yet whether Omicron is so much milder that we need to worry less about it, but at the moment we need to be concerned.”
