Bomber Command veterans given final chance

Article image for Bomber Command veterans given final chance

Surviving veterans from Australia’s World War II Bomber Command applied for funding to attend a new international memorial in the UK.

With careers and support from the RAF, the trip is estimated to cost $200,000.

But the veterans were denied… because they were too old.

Veterans’ Affairs Minister Michael McCormack tells Alan Jones he’s overturned the decision.

“As a result of discussions… they’ll be flown to Bomber County.

“It’ll be, potentially, their last chance to be with a lot of those men.”
