NSW Police believe the woman whose body was found wrapped in plastic had been couch surfing before she was found dead.

The body of a woman that was found wrapped in plastic and floating down a Lake Macquarie creek has been identified as Danielle Easey.

The 29-year-old was not reported missing before her body was found on the weekend.

The police were called when members of the public saw an item wrapped in plastic in Cockle Creek in Killingworth, south of Newcastle.

Detective Chief Inspector of the Homicide Unit Grant Taylor tells Ben Fordham they are working to figure out where she was killed and when.

“We’re very keen to try and work out exactly where Danielle has been over the last three or four weeks, she’s certainly been about a bit, usually around the Lake Macquarie area.

“We think she’s been couch surfing from place to place.

“She had a number of young children who weren’t actually living with her at the time.”
