The moving story of a family facing the foreclosure of their 1930s Minnesota guesthouse is coming to Australian stages early next year.

Australian actress Lisa McCune stars in Bob Dylan-inspired musical Girl From The North Country, which premieres in January at Sydney’s newly renovated Theatre Royal.

Despite being a newcomer to Dylan’s music, Ms McCune told Deborah Knight she fell in love with the acclaimed production and its “clever” use of his songs upon first viewing.

“The producers actually sent it to me to have a look at right in the middle of our winter here.

“It was really bleak, and we were in lockdown, and I watched it and … it really struck me.

“I just felt this kind of wash of joy.”
