Mayor of Hawkesbury City Council Patrick Connolly is against the subsidy idea from the government to move people from flood-affected towns.

Mr Connoly told Deborah Knight, “It’s a bit of a joke”.

With many people being already set up in their towns the Mayor said, “there are so many things about that, that are ridiculous”.

“The state government could never afford to relocate 12,000 houses.

“It shouldn’t be allowed to be used as an excuse to not be looking at real mitigation options.”
