Ben Fordham slams governments ‘appalling’ veterans handling

Article image for Ben Fordham slams governments ‘appalling’ veterans handling

Ben Fordham is calling on the new Minister for Veterans Affairs Matt Keogh to “sort out” ex-military personnel waiting on claims to be processed.

61,000 ex-military personnel are still waiting for their claims to be approved.

This comes after former Veterans Affairs Minister Andrew Gee told the Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide that he fought against millions of dollars in proposed funding cuts under the Morrison government.

Ben isn’t impressed, labelling it “one of the most appalling failings of government”.

“The government keeps on stuffing around, our war heroes lose hope,” Ben said.

“They’ve put their lives on the line, they’ve seen the horrors of war, and because of the pressure they’re under, they’re killing themselves.”
