Ben Fordham slams dole bludgers ‘having a laugh’ while businesses struggle

Ben Fordham

Ben Fordham is slamming dole bludgers refusing to work as businesses cry out for staff.

The federal budget is expected to deliver cash payments and a cut to the fuel excise, with the unemployment rate set to drop to 3.75 per cent by September this year.

Data shows there are still almost 900,000 Australians on the JobSeeker payment while businesses are struggling with staff shortages.

“The truth is there are Australians who should be working but won’t. They’ve become accustomed and addicted to welfare,” Ben said.

“Keep the payments going for those in genuine need and turn them off for those who are having a laugh.”

Listener Lucy told Ben she knows a 21-year-old woman who could be categorised as a ‘dole bludger’.

“She stays home, sleeps in until midday … uses the money to go and do her nails.”
