Chocolate giant Mars has apologised to China after it referred to Taiwan as a country in a recent new product promotion.

China expressed outrage following an internal document saying their new Snickers bar was available in several countries- including Taiwan.

Australia is one of many countries that “strongly support” relations with Taiwan but doesn’t recognise it as a country.

“It is frightening to think how this may end up,” Ben Fordham said.

“If China invades Taiwan how will the west respond?

“Will we sit by and watch or do we go to war?”
