Tens of thousands of people gathered in major cities this weekend for largely peaceful ‘freedom rallies’ protesting further lockdowns and health mandates.

Ben Fordham commended attendees for protesting legally and civilly, while “keeping the nutcases away”.

He sympathised with the cause of protesters concerned by how easily governments have taken Australians’ rights away, particularly as the NSW and Victorian governments seek to extend their pandemic powers.

“There were some very normal people there with some genuine concerns.

“We’ve just had 18 months of this madness; we’ve tolerated lockdowns, we’ve gone months and months and months without seeing loved ones.

“On the trigger-happy politicians demanding extraordinary powers for two more years, no thanks.”
