Many Australians have been left reeling after Western Australia’s decision to indefinitely delay the border reopening.

One of those Australians is 6PR Breakfast Host Gareth Parker.

He joined Ben Fordham in the Sydney studio after he flew to the United States so that his wife’s parents could meet their grandchildren.

Returning West Australians, or those with close family contacts, can return and quarantine.

The family had planned to return home from February 5, but will now meet Gareth in Sydney and fly home for 14-days isolation.

“I’m not a victim, I’ve made choices,” Gareth told Ben.

“In Western Australia, many, many people are terrified of COVID and the consequences of COVID.

“However there is another group who bear the consequences of that reluctance. February 5 for them was a beacon of hope.”
