Barnaby Joyce hits back at criticisms of his time as drought envoy
Barnaby Joyce has hit back at claims he never provided a report during his time as special drought envoy.
Agriculture Minister David Littleproud told parliament that Barnaby Joyce provided no written report on the drought but the former Nationals leader claims he sent updates via SMS to the Prime Minister.
Shadow minister for agriculture Joel Fitzgibbon has said Mr Joyce should release the text messages detailing the drought.
But Mr Joyce tells Karl Stefanovic he also sent Scott Morrison “numerous” written reports on the drought.
“There’s a lot of personal information in there about people and I don’t think these people want their details given to Mr Fitzgibbon.”
Mr Joyce says he provided the Prime Minister with 10 written reports as well as some text messages.
