A Darwin barber shop is facing an anti-discrimination investigation because it only cuts men’s hair.

Star Barber’s owner, Joy Arnott, is defending her business after a woman complained the male-only barber shop wouldn’t cut women’s hair.

She tells Ben Fordham the response is “crazy”.

“Someone is disgruntled, a woman, because they can’t have a haircut in a men’s barber shop.

“If we took women on we wouldn’t have the space to specialise in men’s haircutting that we do.

“We really want to protect our right to choose to do male-only hair.

“The fact that someone’s got their back up about this and on the ground of gender inequality just makes me hopping mad.”
