Bans for distracted parents, borrowers on the way under pokies crackdown
Pokies players caught leaving their children unattended or asking to borrow money will be banned from NSW clubs under a new industry code of conduct.
The new code is being introduced by ClubsNSW as they come under increasing pressure for government intervention on problem gambling.
Venues will now ban people who show signs of problem gambling or are suspected of laundering money through poker machines.
ClubsNSW boss Josh Landis told Ray Hadley a dedicated ‘responsible gambling officer’ will be in place at each club to enforce the new rule.
“Every club will have a dedicated responsible gambling officer who receives advanced training to understand how to interact with people when it comes to these issues,” he said.
