Australia’s first computer manufacturing facility opens
Data centre and high-performance computing storage vendor SoftIron has opened a brand new manufacturing plant in Botany.
The COVID pandemic caused major supply issues around the world as factories were forced to close due to lockdowns and trade slowed dramatically.
Assistant Minister for Defence Matt Thistlethwaite told Deborah Knight it’s crucial the components can be made locally.
“It’s about growing our human capacity, the skills and technological know-how from employing 30 locals will be priceless into the future.”
“We want to make sure Australian businesses have the capacity to manufacture these important components without relying on the international supply change.”
