Australian entrepreneur wants small business on the government’s radar

Australian entrepreneur Mark Bouris is calling for small business to be elevated to a senior government portfolio.

The founder of Wizard Home Loans and chairman of Yellow Brick Road is currently following the journey of eight small businesses in his Channel 7 TV show The Mentor.

Bouris tells Chris Smith he came up with the show concept because he wanted to give Australian businesses a helping hand.

“What I get continually asked for is help, and so I thought how do I sort of scale that up.”

Bouris hopes his advice on the show is amplified across the country, to help some of the other two million small businesses in Australia.

Further to that, Bouris wants the government to take note, and reflect that small business are the engine room of this country.

“I think small business should be elevated to be one of the senior portfolios in the country in an economic sense.”

Full interview below.

The Mentor is on tonight 8:50pm, Channel 7
