Australia is being encouraged to follow the United States’ lead and announce a diplomatic boycott of the Beijing Winter Games.

A diplomatic boycott involves no diplomats or officials being sent to Beijing, but athletes will still be allowed to compete.

Author and Ethics Professor Clive Hamilton told Ben Fordham it’s an appropriate move.

“The human rights violations in China are now just so severe that governments, by sending ministers, prime ministers and senior officials, can’t be seen to be endorsing the Xi Jinping regime.”
