Australian musician Russell Morris has collaborated with Rick Springfield to create Day of the Dead-themed album Jack Chrome and the Darkness Waltz.

Morris told Deborah Knight the pair reunited to exchange ideas after Springfield spotted a YouTube performance posted by Morris under the Jack Chrome pseudonym.

“We’ve been friends for a while.

“When he became a superstar, of course I lost contact for a little bit.”

The “beautiful sentiment” behind Dia de los Muertos became a fascination for Morris when he lived in Los Angeles, a fascination shared by Springfield.

“They have a week and a half of celebrations whereby they invite all of the spirits of the loved ones that they’ve lost back.”
