Aussie actress opens up on how her Bollywood success is seen at home

Australian actress and Bollywood star Pallavi Sharda has opened up about how her success is perceived in the two cultures.

Sharda voices concerned mother Anushey Syed in a new multi-cast mystery audio drama, The Missed.

The actress was born in Perth and grew up in Melbourne but told Deborah Knight her success in India isn’t acknowledged back home.

“It’s interesting because I know that if people had achieved the same amount of success in Hollywood there’s a different sense … it’s almost not seen or recognised.

“For me, it’s about changing the narrative around that and saying, ‘why is a western industry superior to one from Asia?'”
