Two of the expansion bid teams in south-east Queensland are considering a ‘super bid’ for the NRL’s 17th license.

The Brisbane Jets and Brisbane Firehawks are reportedly in talks to merge.

ARL Commission Chairman Peter V’landys told Ben Fordham combining would signal a “much more powerful bid”.

“We’ll wait and see if it does happen … but it will certainly make that bid a lot stronger than what it currently is.”
