Argentina win 2022 Fifa World Cup via penalty shootout

Summer Breakfast

Argentina has won a thrilling World Cup in a penalty shootout, in one of the greatest finals of all time.

Twice the French threatened to break Argentinean hearts – first coming from two goals down to force the game to extra time at 2-2, thanks to Kylian M’bappe.

The star forward then completed his hat trick to cancel out Messi’s second goal in extra-time, sending the title to penalties after a 3-ALL draw.

But there was no coming back once goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez saved Kingsley Coman’s attempt – with Argentina going on to win the shootout 4-2 as heard on SBS.

Messi has been awarded the Golden Ball Award player of the tournament, becoming the first player to receive the award twice.
