Ben Fordham is joining a raft of experts in questioning Australia’s military capability.

Defence Minister Peter Dutton has warned, “The only way you can preserve peace is to prepare for war”.

New frigates won’t arrive in Australia until 2031 and there are no new subs coming until 2040.

“Without being alarmist, if war with China breaks out the ‘future’ subs and ‘future’ ships aren’t going to help us,” Ben said.

“It’s one thing to say ‘prepare for war’ but the real question is, ‘are we ready?'”
