Are independent candidates getting under the skin of Liberal incumbents?

Article image for Are independent candidates getting under the skin of Liberal incumbents?

A slate of independent ‘Voices of’ candidates will compete with Liberal incumbents in ‘blue-ribbon’ seats in the next federal election.

Mackellar MP Jason Falinski is facing opposition from local GP Sophie Scamps, and told Chris O’Keefe the doctor is “anything but” an independent.

“They’ve got one policy which is around climate change, and they really won’t say what the rest of their policies are.”

However, he admitted the existing crossbench of independents already constitute “a fair dinkum force” to be reckoned with.

Chris questioned whether the ‘Voices of’ campaigns are getting under the skin of MPs like Mr Falinski.

“You sound worried.”
