Anthony Albanese’s meeting with President Xi draws warm response

Michael McLaren

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is in Thailand for the final leg of his South-East Asian summit blitz.

The Prime Minister had a “warm” and “positive” first meeting with Chinese President Xi.

Minister for Industry and Science Ed Husic told Deborah Knight trade relations need to be improved with China.

“The meeting is also good for the Chinese who want to get access to our world quality products, it’s a first step which had to be taken.”

Shadow treasurer Angus Taylor says it’s clear China is trying to change their attitude towards Australia.

“This is a great opportunity for Australia to stabilise our relations, but we can’t let go of our values when dealing with China.”
