Anthony Albanese to be sworn in as PM ahead of Quad meeting

Anthony Albanese will be sworn in today as the 31st prime minister of Australia.

Mr Albanese will attend Government House in Canberra with Deputy Prime Minister Richard Marles, incoming foreign minister Penny Wong, the new treasurer Jim Chalmers and new finance minister Katy Gallagher.

He will then head to Tokyo for the Quad meeting with international leaders.

Richard Marles will serve as acting prime minister in his absence.

Nine Political Reporter Michael Pachi told Ben Fordham Mr Albanese will have a one-on-one with Joe Biden.

“At this one-on-one, you’d assume this AUKUS alliance would feature.”
